Cowpens, SC - To increase daylighting opportunities while minimizing solar heat gain, Mermet USA, the global leader in Sun Control Textiles™, today announced the addition of 1% fabric openness to its T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology shade collection. A versatile, dual-sided fabric, this enhancement heightens T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology’s design flexibility to an exemplary level which allows for optimal performance control, aesthetics and now greater privacy.

Inspired by established color trends and fabric popularity backed by market demand, the new 1% openness solution offers 95%-99% UV blockage and clear views to the outside.

Woven with KOOLBLACK Technology infused dark yarns and reflective white yarns for enhanced heat reflection, T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology is an ideal shading solution for mid-to-high rise commercial buildings wanting to maximize seeking efficient utilization of working space through decreased energy load and upgraded occupant comfort.

KOOLBLACK Technology eliminates the tradeoffs between aesthetics and performance by incorporating near-infrared heat reflective properties into dark screen fabric. This feature, coupled with the benefits of dark colored fabrics, provides excellent contrast for a clear view through, uniformed exterior building design, maximized energy savings and optimal occupant comfort. T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology 1% has the daylighting benefits of conventional dark shade fabrics while reducing overall visible light transmittance (Tv) for superior views and glare control, as well as high infrared reflectance, for reduced temperatures and cooling cost.

“Since it’s inception, KOOLBLACK Technology has had a major impact on the market; fabrics with the technology have become high-performing building assets. We set out to change the chemistry of dark fabrics so they perform as light fabrics with regards to heat control, and we have been continually advancing this technology ever since,” said Colin Blackford, Innovation Manager at Mermet. “Enhancing T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology with additional openness factors shows our commitment to satisfying the specific fabric requirements of our customers. We hope intend to deliver the highest quality shade products demanded by building owners while exceeding the architect’s vision of design aesthetics.”

T Screen with KOOLBLACK Technology with 1% openness will be offered in the same colors as the existing 3% and 5% openness offerings: White/Charcoal, White/Cocoa, White/Charcoal-Cocoa, White/Charcoal-Grey and White/Grey.
