Regulations & Sustainability

Committed to Compliance, Transparency, and Sustainability

At Mermet®, we stay actively informed on regulations that impact the textile and window covering industries, because protecting people and the planet is at the core of what we do. That’s why we’re committed to offering roller shade fabrics that not only meet industry standards but often exceed them, delivering safety, sustainability, and long-lasting performance you can trust.

Beyond compliance, we believe product transparency matters, and we continuously explore sustainable fabric solutions to support a healthier future.

And because specifying roller shade fabrics should be simple, we’ve pulled together our most-requested declarations and certifications so you can find exactly what you need fast.

Health Product Declarations

A product report, based on the HPD Open Standard, which includes chemical ingredient disclosure and associated health information. Product ingredients are listed by percentage of weight to 100 ppm.

GreenGuard Gold

The GREENGUARD Gold Certification standard includes health-based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to help ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments like schools and healthcare facilities. GREENGUARD Gold Certified products must also comply with requirements of the state of California’s Department of Public Health (CDPH) “Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers, Version 1.2 (2017)” (also known as California Section 01350).

Restricted Substances

In today’s world, people want confidence that the products they use every day are safe. Over the past five years, the EPA and several U.S. states have taken important steps to regulate persistent, bio-accumulative, and toxic chemicals such as PFAS, Antimony Trioxide, and halogenated flame retardants. At Mermet®, we share that commitment. Our roller shade fabrics are designed to meet today’s strict regulations and we’re proud to offer options that are free from these chemicals and many more.

Environmental Product Declarations

A third-party verified product report based on a cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Analysis that provides the environmental performance and global warming potential of a product including raw materials, manufacturing, and disposal.

Declare Label / LBC Red List

The Living Building Challenge (LBC) Red List represents the “worst in class” materials, chemicals, and elements known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem that are
prevalent in the building products industry. Compliant products do not contain any red list substances.

The Declare Label provides all material ingredient information while also identifying products as Red List Compliant. The label automatically places red list compliant products into consideration for the Living Building  Challenge (LBC)

Cradle 2 Cradle Certificate

A globally recognized measure of safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy. Products are assessed for environmental and social performance across the five critical sustainability categories of material health, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.
